The Bitter End All Star Jam is Global!!!!!!! - October 23, 2006

Kinda hard to imagine that 40 years ago, when the open mic started at The Bitter End, that it would be watched all over the world as it is today. Thanks to modern technology people from Germany, Dominican Republic, Austria, Italy, Canada, Japan, Cayman Islands, United Kingdom, Netherland, Turkey, Thailand, Brazil, Seychelles, US Military, Mexico, Russian Federation, China, Israel, Tuvalu, Portugal, Czech Republic, United States and South Africa have checked out The Bitter End All Star Jam! We didn't make this up. Heck, I don't think half of us even know where some of these countries are, let alone spell their names. Next time it may be a good idea to leave the clown suit at home and wear something a bit more rock 'n roll. We're NYC baby!

Submit your songs now! - June 14, 2006

We will periodically be posting mp3's of past jams as well as songs recorded by YOU. Send us your best stuff, we'll put it right up for the whole world to listen to.

"Emerging Artist Showcase." - May 24, 2006

"Emerging Artist Showcase."

The tradition continues...........

Since 1961, New York's Oldest Rock Club, Paul Colby's The Bitter End, offered Greenwich Village the best in live music. For over 40 years, The Sunday Night Jam Session/ Open Mic Night remains an integral part of the live music scene in New York. So very many artists got their start on the open mic.

Starting May 28th 2006, The Sunday Night Jam Session/ Open Mic Night is back. Bring your instruments, your voice or your ears. Many of tomorrows music legends will be discovered there.

Hosted by drummer Mark Greenberg, the jam will be open to all types of music. Every Sunday night will highlight an emerging artist in our "Emerging Artist Showcase."

How it Works:

Submissions for the Emerging Artist Showcase are accepted via the internet, mail or in person. Once every two weeks, the Producer will select a single artist to be the featured artist for that evening during the course of the Jam. Submissions can be any kind of song style, even instrumental.

The producer will provide the artist with a rehearsed, first call session band that showcases the artist, (AT NO COST TO THE ARTIST), for 2-3 songs. You may use any or all of the band for support. The musicians in the house band have played with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, Dickey Betts (The AllmanBrothers), The Dave Matthews Band, Anastacia, Bernie Worrell, The ZenTricksters, Charlie Daniels, Larry Coryell, Bob Weir, Santana, Fiona Apple, Joss Stone and many others. The artist then has the opportunity to purchase a live recording @ $15 and submit it for consideration for a future, full showcase slot at The Bitter End. The Bitter End SEmerging Artist Showcase. website will feature the artist's bio & CD or MP3's for purchase/downloads for the two weeks preceding the event and permanent photos and a web site link in our Bitter End Jam gallery afterwards.

The important thing to note is that currently the Songwriter's Showcase is being produced at no cost to the artist/songwriter. This is not a gimmick! There is only one requirement... that the featured artist use best efforts to promote their show and draw a minimum of 10 people.
